Monday: Closed
Tuesday to Thursday, Sunday: 09:00~17:00
Friday and Saturday: 09:00 ~ 20:00 Visitors are admitted into the Pavilion of Dreams until 30 minutes before closing time, and 15 minutes before closing time for the Theater of Dreams.
Visitors may enter the Theater of Dreams with the same-day-ticket(s) of the Pavilion of dreams, the seat are limited, until full.
Transportation Information
MRT
Citizens can take the MRT Luzhou Line to Zhongshan Elementary School Station Exit 4, and then head east along Minquan East Rd. Turn left on the intersection of Minquan and Jilin, head north on Jilin Rd. Xinsheng Park Area is reachable by foot in 10 minutes.
Bus
Citizens can take 72, 222, 285 Jilin, 665, 527, City Mini Bus 9, BR16, R34, and Dunhua Trunk Line. The original Expo Bus Line 1 route (Xinsheng Park Area to and from MRT Yuanshan Station) will continue regular services as the renamed Red 50 (Neihu-MRT Yuanshan Station). There is one bus every 30~60 minutes. Starting August 1, the bus will run every 15~30 minutes during peak time to cope with the reopening of Xinsheng Park Area.

Grand Hall - Prelude
The Beginning of the Journey of Dreams
Through the forest tunnel inside the spectacular Grand Hall, you will see a large mechanical flower dancing along with the music emitting from paper leaf speakers, and as it moves, enchanting changes throughout a day are revealed magically.
Blossom Artist / Wen-Fu Yu Technology Application / Mechanical & Systems Research Laboratories, ITRI｛ Power Mechanical Suspension & Control Technology ｝
Suspended in the Grand Hall is a giant mechanical flower titled "Blossom", and it is comprised of 120 sets of suspended mechanical petals. This is a collaborative work between the renowned installation artist Wen-Fu Yu and the Mechanical and Systems Research Laboratories of ITRI.
“Blossom” is inspired by the origin of plant life. For Yu, the journey of a budding flower blossoming and proceeding onto pollination is the most poignant part in a plant’s life.
Sounds of the Earth Artist / I-Ju Huang, Tien-Hung Wang and Chi-Ling Liu Technology Application / Electronics & Optoelectronics Research Laboratories, ITRI ｛FleXpeaker｝
“Sounds of the Earth” is comprised of 150 leaf-shaped FleXpeaker scattered amongst more than 34,000 paper leaves throughout the Grand Hall. Branches and leaves intertwine to form a tunnel-like forest, and theatrical lighting and multi-layered sound effects reveal the gradual transformation of seasons and time of day. The melodic arrangements in this atmospheric music installation lull the audiences through a year in time within a day, and each moment is made eternal.
Gallery 1 - Diversity
Floral Realm • Floral Mirror Artist / BluePhoenix New Media Arts Technology Application / Electronics & Optoelectronics Research Laboratories, ITRI ｛ Multi-View Naked-Eye Stereoscopic Display ｝
The design concept for Gallery 1 illustrates the diverse natural ecology of Taiwan. Advanced visual and audio interactive multi-media technology brings audiences into a virtual reality mirroring the natural world. Presented through powerful and expressive installation and multi-media displays, extraordinary plant and animal life on the beautiful Formosa is showcased to the world. This exhibition also narrates the recovery from natural disasters in recent Taiwan history, which awakens people to comprehend the dire predicament of our natural world.
The 65-inch Portrait-Type Multi-View Naked-Eye Stereoscopic Display System developed by ITRI breaks new grounds in visual communication and is demonstrated through this artwork. Without wearing 3D goggles, 3D effect is achieved as Taiwan’s exotic and rare plant species become vividly alive through six chapters of poetry composed around the themes of ecology and humanity; with Night Chapter. Fern Color, Pond Home, Spring Leap, Autumn Symphony, and Earthly World, audiences will be enchanted by the magnificent beauty of Taiwan.
Gallery 2 - Collaboration
Petal Labyrinth Artist / Hsin-Chien Huang & Storynest
This gallery is designed like a “Petal Labyrinth”, and through the perspective of insects, each person will be transformed into an insect meandering inside a flower.
Transformation Area
Interactive sensor mechanism will turn “a human into an insect” upon entering the “Transformation Area”. Each person will be assigned to a specie of insect based on his or her personal traits. As each person is transformed into an insect in the form of a bee, a stag beetle, long-horned beetle or a butterfly, each audience member will be representing a particular specie as him / her enter into the flower.
Stamens Tunnel & Baby Pollen Universe
Upon touching the orange Stamens, pollen-like laser beams will project outwards to give each visitor the experience of an insect covered in pollen grains, and a journey in the pollen universe will begin.
Flower of Life Technology Application / Material & Chemical Research Laboratories, ITRI ｛ Smart Controllable Liquid Crystal Glass ｝
The ultimate goal for the blossoming flower is pollination. At the final destination of the labyrinth, each person will find answers to the sensual secrets of the flower. This area is a metaphor for the floral reproduction house and is enwrapped in eighteen pieces of Smart Controllable Liquid Crystal Glass. Through the collaborative efforts of the audience members, as they touch the floral ovule installation, audio-visual effects will ignite to begin the symbolic pollination process.
Gallery 3 – Harmony
Green Air
Artist / BluePhoenix New Media Arts Technology Application / Center for Measurement Standards, ITRI ｛Non-Contact UWB Physiological sensing Technology｝
“Green Air” is based on the concept of “Harmony” between human and nature. It is a presentation display that surpasses conventional approach, and spectators can move freely within this 360 degree interactive arena theater comprised of innovative spatial, lighting, and sound installation. The 360 degree panoramic view presents a sophisticated and evocative visual setting of the city and its natural surrounding that advance along with natural daylight timeline.
This interactive journey of six settings revolves around the theme of natural ecology. This design allows the spectator to become closely connected through bodily functions of breathing and heart beating. In a harmonious beautiful state, we shall pursuit in creating together a symphony of life.
ITRI’s Non-Contact Ultrawide Band (UWB) Physiological Sensing Technology is utilized for the first time in an innovative interactive arena theater. Spectator’s physiologic data such as heartbeat and breathing rates are gathered and processed, which then proceed to transform the visual imageries presented on the sophisticated video displays.
Gallery 4 – Love and Dream
At the end of the journey, through a sea of florabot dancing harmoniously with the music, call upon the dream flower that has been keeping you company along the way, and dedicate it to the City Garden.
Florabot Artist / ASUSDESIGN
Florabot is a digital plant that mimics living creatures. Each digital plant is a homogenized unit with simple biological modes implanted. “Florabot” is made to have “living organism-like” traits and is designed to react as people approach them. During the climax of the music, this group of “Florabot” will begin to perform a wave-like dance with changes in color and form.
City Garden Artist / Techart Group Technology Application / Service Systems Technology Center, ITRI ｛Ultra High Frequency RFID Technology｝
Each visitor will be able to see the fantastic outcome of the flower in the bracelet at the interactive sensor station. Flowers that are being activated on the interactive station will also be able to exchange accessories and petal colors. Through this process, each Dream Flower would become ever more vibrant and colorful. A unique virtual Dream Flower will at this point appear before each visitor’s eyes, and it will finally enter the City Garden to be shared with everyone.
Sounds of Dreams Artist / Chi-Ling Liu, Hung-Hung Technology Application / Electronics & Optoelectronics Research Laboratories, ITRI ｛FleXpeaker｝
“Sounds of Dreams” is inspired by the core concept of “Coexistence” of the Pavilion of Dreams. With the pristine vocals of children from Hualien County Jhuo-Le Elementary School, the 0.11 centimeters thick and 900 cmx360cm in size FleXpeaker is suspended and shaped in a curve to enwrap the audiences with the sounds from the beautiful music.
The Entire Pavilion The Journey of Coexistence Artist / Techart Group Technology Application / Service Systems Technology Center, ITRI ｛Ultra High Frequency RFID Technology｝
The experience inside the Pavilion of Dreams is a smart journey embodying diverse strategic alliance, collaboration, and harmonious coexistence. Through out this voyage, specific dreams selected by each person will be transformed into a unique dream flower contained in a RFID smart bracelet. This flower will accompany each person throughout the exploration in the pavilion.
The Journey of Coexistence utilizes ITRI’s Ultra High Frequency RFID Technology implemented in various areas inside the Pavilion of Dreams with ultra-small radio- frequency identification (RFID) readers. Duration of each visitor’s visit, energy received, and specific dream selected will all be recorded onto a unique personal “Dream Flower.”

Artist/ Jimmy & Jimmy S.P.A. Co., Ltd.
The Theater of Dreams is based on “How to own a Corner” by the acclaimed illustrator Jimmy. Through the integration of installations and animations, a unique narrative space is formed.
The story is set in a vacant garage with a green-haired boy named Little Rice. All he ever wanted is to have a small corner to call his own. So he takes off with a box of colorful fruit candies and leaves the real world. Accidentally, he enters a magical place called the “Corner of the World”…
