Pavilion of Taipei is relocated at Taipei City after being at the world’s center stage in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Thanks to the collective effort from Taipei City Government and Foxconn , Pavilion of Taipei has now found its new home in Xinsheng Park. The exact exhibition will be re-staged in Taipei, so everyone could experience the profoundness of Taipei City. Once again, Pavilion of Taipei will see its glorious days. The pavilion features double theaters, (including 101 3D Theater, and Future 3D Theater), and an Interactive Area. The theater plays director Hou Hsiao-Hsien’s “Taipei, Life, Smiles” in AV stereo sound with 3D/360-degree effects. The film, screening at the Theater of future, illustrates Taipei's plan in the fields of wireless communications and resource recycling. The entire film took place at a pyramidal theater located over a virtual Taipei Basin, which is designed by the University of the Arts, to create the "dancing in the air" effect. Audiences will leave the theater thinking “Taipei makes life better”. Visitors can experience urban ecology through touch and interaction in the Interactive Area. Here, visitors will be introduced to Taipei’s nature, arts, and literature, getting to know more about Taipei as they tell stories that happened in the two cities.   2F Guide and waiting area
The First Stop: 101 3D/360-Degree Theater
Part 1: Speed – A Journey to Taipei and the Future Visitors can ride a replica of Taipei 101's elevator. With the movement of the screen surrounding them, visitors will experience the sensation of riding a high-speed elevator. Part 2: The Screening of “Taipei, Life, Smiles” Directed by the world-renowned Hou Hsiao-Hsien , “Taipei, Life, Smiles”, creates a magical trip of illusion, with the help of stereo sound, stage lighting, and 360-degree 3D cinema. Wearing 3D glasses, visitors will be given a brand new viewing experience while they take a virtual tour of Taipei. This film is shot in 3D and played at the world’s very first 360-Degree Theater that houses 8 screens and 16 projectors. The Second Stop: Future Corridor

The Third Stop: Theater of Future
The future of Taipei is projected through images on a virtual version of Taipei. Citizens live in a city with wireless broadband communications (remote and wireless medical technology, conference on wireless communication, and video chat) and a trash-free environment due to resource recycling. With the cooperation from the government, people, and enterprises, life in Taipei becomes more convenient and beautiful – a truly sustainable society. The Title of Film: Better Taipei，Better Life Revolving around the theme of “Better Taipei, Better Life”, director Hou Hsiao-Hsien portrayed a sustainable society where there is wireless communications and resource recycling - the film took place at a pyramidal theater located over a virtual Taipei Basin, which is designed by the University of the Arts, to create the "dancing in the air" effect. Audiences will leave the theater thinking “Taipei makes life better”.
The Fourth Stop: Interactive Area Visitors experience urban ecology through touch and interaction. As the story of two cities unfolds, you will discover Taipei through the city’s nature, arts, and literature, connecting Taipei with Shanghai. In the end, with “Taipei Smiles”, the friendliness of Taipei citizens will give visitors a better idea about Taipei. Part 1: Discover Taipei
A brilliant and realistic film has allowing visitors to experience the moments of life in Taipei. The film, directed by the world-renowned Hou Hsiao-Hsien, introduces the cultural and natural side of Taipei. Visitors get to see the different faces of Taipei. The beauty of life in Taipei is displayed in the film with four basic aspects, including architecture, movement (section A), aesthetic, and delicacies (section B). The exhibition is divided into section A and section B in which the respective film will start playing automatically when the infrared sensor detects the presence of a visitor. Part 2: Lovely Taipei
Wireless broadband communications create with surprises and wonderful memories. At the Interactive Area, interactive technology will engage visitors everywhere to experience the fun of taking pictures with famous Taipei destinations, as shown in “Lovely Taipei”. This way, it is just like they are there in person, creating wonderful memories to the journey. Part 3: Ecological Taipei
Interactively, we are reminded of the importance and impact of environment protection! In the Taipei basin runs the Danshui River - the most important river in Taipei. Two hundred years ago, Taipei emerged as a modern city amidst the vibrant trade in Danshui River. The residents and businesses here all contribute to transforming the Danshui River into a heavily polluted river. In recent years, the government and private groups have been working hand in hand to solve this problem with measures including the resident’s pollution watch team, industrial waste disposal ban, waste management, and river interception. This improved the water quality of Danshui River. Then, when the riverside parks and bike paths were established, the Danshui River returned to its beauty once again. Through three sets of Touch Panels installed at different heights, visitors can witness the process of how Taipei citizens took park into cleaning up the river. Part 4: A Story of Two Cities
Through the photographs, a story about the similarities between Taipei and Shanghai unfolds, bonding the citizens of two cities From pictures and words that were put together by professor Zhu-Jiu Jia and famous writer Yi-Jun Luo, Wen-Qian Chen narrated a story about Taipei and Shanghai – the ups and downs, the war, the woe, and glory of more than one hundred years. Today, the global network has revolutionized the spatial relation between the two cities. We now have the opportunity to connect and get closer with each other through the Shanghai Expo, Taipei Flora Expo, and the direct charter flights. Length: 2 minutes. A Story of Two Cities Taipei and Shanghai are separated by a distance of 700 km, but the two are somehow connected through the course of time. Both cities are given its life by rivers – Danshui and Huangpu. During the 19th and 20th century, both cities had once fallen under foreign rule, and became influenced by foreign cultures. In 1949, the two cities, once unknown to one another, were brought together because of war. People came from Shanghai to Taipei with their ocean culture, food, language, and stores. Taipei has even adopted the way their streets were named. The chic swagger at Shanghai Ten, Great World Entertainment Center, Kunqu , concession territories, and Eileen Chang were all embedded in the memory of people in Taipei. We could no longer tell if things came from Shanghai or Taipei. There was never one city like Taipei which has so much memory of Shanghai. Fifty-years later, many bans were lifted and a new cross-strait relation has shaped. This time, Taipei brought with them the culture, food, and creativity of Taipei into the new Shanghai. In the past, Taipei and Shanghai both witnessed another’s war, woe, glory, ups and downs, and the things reminisced by Eileen Chang. The global network and direct charter flights rewrite the relationship between Taipei and Shanghai, bringing both cities one step closer. The two cities’ technological sectors are closer and connect with each other, putting themselves on the map on the Asian economy. Taipei has now become the most important gateway city to Taiwan and the Yangtze River Delta. After two decades, there were many coincidences and war torn stories of separation; those are what made the success of Shanghai Expo and Taipei Flora Expo. Today, people from Taipei will tour the Shanghai Expo with a smile on their faces. Part 5: Taipei Smiles
With the most sincere smile, Taipei invites visitors to experience the idea of “Better City, Better Life” Interactive touch-screen displaying 2010 Taipei Smiles Visitors will compete on creativity, based on four topics The “2010 Shangha Expo Pavilion of Taipei Creativity Competition”, held on April 11, 2009, was a way of involving citizens. During this time, almost 3,500 people entered the competition. The “Taipei Logo”, “Smiling Face”, “Shining Picture”, and “Love Letter” were chosen by Hau Lung-pin, Mayor of Taipei, celebrity Yu-bou Chiang, famed photographer Ying-sheng Guo , and well-known writer Ke-xiang Liu, as the winner of golden award. This exhibition displays the creative works of Taipei citizens, showing the power of our smile, so the whole world could see the best part of Taipei.
